Born in Braintree, MA, which is now Quincy. Grad. Harvard, 1790. Federalist Congressman, 1805-13. Mayor of Boston, 1823-27. President of Harvard 1829-45.
Born in Rhinebeck, NY; settled in 1821 as a lawyer in Natches, MI. Chancellor of Mississippi from 1827-35. Brigadier General in Mexican war. Prominent and active Nullifier.
Responsible for building of Quincy Market, and, with Joseph Story, for the development of Harvard Law School.
